With Matimba Khoza
Matimba Khoza took over at Mafunyani Cultural Village after the death of his father in 2011. He started after noticing that youth in his community were ignoring their culture and falling in love with new and more modern activities. He wishes to re-expose the youth and other members of the community to the true soul of original and ancestral customs. Cultural Villages are often seen as fake and commercial exploitations of indigenous cultures, but Matimba uses this venture to teach local children how to dance, cook, create crafts, and maintain the spirit of their culture.
Experience the glory of South African traditional cultures through a visit to Mafunyani Cultural Village. Visitors are welcomed to the village by Matimba and other youth, and for approximately two hours, they are invited to observe and experiment with traditional dancing, food preparation, crafts and more! The visit is informal and interactive.
